UAW: "Jason Kander is a man of honesty and integrity . . ."

It's not at all surprising that the UAW of Missouri has endorsed Jason Kander in his run for the 44th district - Jason is the kind of leader our district and our party needs in Jefferson City.

But what about Coffman's claim that Kander "lied" to the UAW and that the UAW was furious with him?

I guess she was wrong.

That is a huge endorsement. Congratulations.

Dan -

How about a link to the endorsement?

Sorry, I don't have a link - I don't know where it exists online, other than here. Here's the whole press release from the Kander campaign . . .

__________

UNITED AUTO WORKERS ENDORSE KANDER

For Immediate Release
Contact: Margaret Hansbrough, 816 268 6169

Kansas City, MO – Jason Kander, Democratic candidate for State Representative in Missouri's 44th District, announced a major endorsement today by the United Auto Workers of Missouri. "Jason Kander is a man of honesty and integrity and we know that he will be an effective advocate for working Missourians," said Jeff Wright, President of UAW Local 249.

"No group of Americans has more closely observed policies that favor cheap labor and foreign markets over domestic families than America's auto workers," Kander said. "That's why it means so much to me to have their endorsement."

Hinting that other labor endorsements were forthcoming for the Kander campaign, Kander noted, "As a veteran of this war, I know what it's like to stand up, do the right thing, and receive only slogans from my government. I think that American workers feel very much the same way under President Bush and Governor Blunt."

Jason Kander is running to replace term-limited Rep. Jenee Lowe. He is a fifth-generation Kansas Citian, an attorney, a former UMKC Political Science Instructor, and an Army Reserve Intelligence Officer that served in Afghanistan.

Why didn’t the honesty quote get attributed to an individual person? And why didn’t the primary endorsement document precede the campaign press release?

Campaigns NEVER announce an endorsement ahead of the actual endorsing organization. And when endorsing organizations have “quotes”, they are always attributed.

When did anybody, any reader, see or hear an initial announcement of an endorsement of a candidate made by the candidate? I mean a significant endorsement - we can all agree that the UAW is significant.

Did Obama announce Gore’s endorsement of him? No. It was leaked to the press, but Gore made the initial public announcement.

Let’s see. Did Obama announce Richardson’s endorsement? No.

Let’s look locally. Let’s take Four Freedoms or the CCP. Did any of the recipients of the CCP or Four Freedoms announce their endorsements before the CCCP or Four Freedoms did?

No, and No.

The endorsee never, ever first announces an endorsement. They never do unless there is an issue. Is there an issue?

I think there is. The UAW jumped too soon to endorse Kander based upon his lie, and now, half-pregnant, can’t recant. So they issue a low profile endorsement.

Low profile means that they “allow” other people to say they support them.

This may be what has happened.

Who is the UAW official that is saying Jason is honest? Why is that person anonymous?

Where is the real UAW endorsement?

This is way too strange.

I posted the anon quote above. Note to people who watch things closely - pay attention to the money and bodies the UAW actually throws in the campaign. That's the true test of their commitment.

Anon 9:48 and 9:50 -

Wow, you really are not that bright.

If you read the press release (well, if you can read), you will see that the "honesty and integrity" quote was made by Jeff Wright, President of UAW Local 249.

As to your second point, today Mary Still, who is running for the 25th state house seat, issued a press release announcing an endorsement by the UAW. Go to the last post at http://blogs.columbiatribune.com/politics/

How embarrassed you must be.

Coffman needs to answer whether her campaign is directly involved in the false claims of the UAW calling Kander a "Lying sack of s---."

If so, she owes labor and auto workers a deep apology.

Hey Amy, are you going to apologize for calling Jason names and then attributing it to the UAW? or are you just going to anonymously make up a new lie about Jason?

It must be scary watching the election slip away.

"Slip away"? That suggests Coffman at one point had a chance to win. This thing was never really close. Hard work and merit pay off.

Honesty and Integrity; what a load! I think I will buy a foreign car since I can't be sure of the UAW's honesty and integrity. Jason Kander is a spreading lies like wild fire! Very Sad, you should all be embarrassed!

Very sad that they are endorsing someone who lies. I wonder about their Honesty and Integrity; time to buy a forein car!!!

Wow. Now Coffman has denounced the UAW. So far, she has insulted labor unions, bloggers, and...who's next?

Kander=Bad for Missouri

we do not need another BLUNT

That last anon comment made absolutely no sense. I guess the Coffman campaign is rendered speechless and is just going back to their fundamentals: name calling.

Sorry anon 11:29 that my comment made no sense to YOU! Kander is a liar and is not good for MIssourians; what don't you understand about that? You don't know me; and I don't camp for anyone; the right candidate needs to be voted in and sure isn't that 26 year old who started all this crap anyway.

Jason is smart, aggressive, patriotic, hard-working and winning.

But he isn't 26.

Also, Blunt didn't win the UAW endorsement.

6/19/2008 2:38 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

But Blunt is not GOOD either.

Now do you get it?

I don't care about this endorsement, I don't care about any endorsements, I do care that he is lying when he comes to my door and lies about what his true beliefs are. I cannot support someone like that; I need someone who is willing to work hard for Missourians and not using this as stepping stone to the "Mansion".

Care to name one of the "lies" that Jason has told? Because, so far, everytime someone has accused him of lying, it turns out that they are the one lying.

Are we to believe that the UAW, a politically savvy organization that has screened the candidates, lacks the insight of an anonymous commenter who thinks that Kander is similar to Blunt because they are not "GOOD", and imagines that Jason has told him lies that he cannot describe?

Me thinky Kander is poopy. Just like Blunt, Bush and Richard Nixon. Kander is a 19 year old communist who hates puppy's.

Jason Kander visited my residence to introduce himself. I asked him about his view on the Pro Life/ProChoice issue. Mr. Kander stated he was Pro Life. After our visit, I researched each candidate and found that Mr. Kander claims to be Pro Choice. So I guess that would be a lie. Now I don't need to visit you argumentative hacks anymore. Have a nice angst ridden life supporting posers!

Anon 7:16 is simply lying. Funny how that doesn't bother the Coffman campaign at all.

There's no one in this town who makes the 25th comment on a political blog but doesn't know who is anti-choice in their own state rep race.
